Cardboard hero is a 3D Action-Platformer that takes you inside the mind of a child playing with their toys.

Play through multiple levels fighting yucky jelly, using cool weapons, and uncovering the spooky things that lie in the dark

Starting out as a senior capstone project, our plan is to release the game on steam sometime in the near future.

Roles

Project Lead

  • Organize sprint backlog to prioritize minimum viable products and keep scope in check.

  • Keep morale high by listening to all team members and making sure that any workplace is a safe and fun environment.

Design Lead

  • Lead design discussions about the interactions between systems and levels.

  • Designed player systems, such as movement, stats, weapons, tools, and consumables.

  • Designed player controls to feel nice when playing on either keyboard and mouse or controller.

  • Designed numerous enemies and bosses, each with unique abilities that challenge player abilities and emphasize previous player choices.

  • Designed opening sewer level.

Technical Lead

  • Programmed AI with easily adjustable patrol zones, allowing for level designers to quickly experiment and adjust.

  • Made physics based enemies that are animated using timers, detecting distance from player and reducing or increasing animation speed accordingly to save on performance.

  • Made environmental tools that helped artists create levels faster.

  • Used UE4 Blueprints and C++.
